Steve Kulka at the Harlequin in Redhill
Question from Cllr. Steve Kulka to the Tory Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Community Development at a meeting of Full Council.
When the 120 year old Market Hall in Redhill was demolished a little over twenty years ago, the community were promised a new theatre.
During the past twenty odd years, The Harlequin has served our community well as a venue for both professional and amateur dramatics, a cinema, meeting facilities, fairs, etc.
Our Council has the responsibility to provide for our residents needs and should be the guardian of these facilities.
Can the portfolio holder tell us why the intention is to close down this well loved facility, as this will be the inevitable outcome of the massive cuts in funding to the Harlequin Theatre?
The answer was "wait and see the report".
I will.
Cllr. Steve Kulka
