Roads suffer from lack of investment
Last year the Conservative administration made drastic cuts in Highways staffing which resulted in a further deterioration in the condition of the roads. The Tories have now reversed the cuts by creating 37 new Highways posts to address the problems which they caused. This will obviously include additional recruitment costs.
The Liberal Democrats had warned all along that the cuts would damage Highways. Unfortunately Surrey residents have been the victims of the Tory administration's misjudgement.
