By-election in Earlswood and Whitebushes

Massive improvement in Lib Dem vote
To those of you that have not yet heard, here are the full results of yesterdays by-election for Earlswood and Whitebushes ward.
Lib Dem 380 34%
Con 421 38%
Lab 152 14%
Ukip 113 10%
Green 54 5%
I am sorry to say we lost by just 41 votes.
The turnout to vote was not fantastic at just 17.69%, much of this was to do with the time of year and the very, very cold weather yesterday.
The percentage turnout for the postal vote was 56.98%. This means the turnout at the polling stations was just 13%!
By comparison, the May 2007 results were:
Lib Dem 593 29%
Con 848 42%
Lab 317 16%
Ukip 169 8%
Green 116 6%
Turnout 32.63%
As you can see, everyone's vote was just about halved, except for ours which held up much better than the others. This could be that Lib Dem Voters are a hardy bunch.
