Councils secret plan to change parking restrictions

Plans kept secret
As residents representatives on the Borough Council, the Lib Dem Councillors for Meadvale & St. Johns ward were absolutely flabbergasted when we found out about the parking restriction changes that Surrey County Council Highways are planning to impose on the area.
When we saw the notices last week, we immediately contacted the Highways officer in charge to check the details and ask why we hadn't been kept informed. We contacted residents, but couldn't find any who had been consulted.
Cllr. Graham Norman and I have been residents representatives on the council for years, but nobody at Tory controlled SCC had taken the trouble to contact us about these proposed works.
Liberal Democrat Councillors have not been allowed to take part in the SCC Highways Transport forum, and I have been told that meetings with Conservative Councillors have been going on behind closed doors, in secret since 2005!
The residential area to the south of Lesbourne Road in Reigate does have parking issues. Some of these are caused in part by SCC employees, who work at the Omnibus offices in Lesbourne Road.
We have insisted on a meeting with the officers in the next few days.
