Much needed funding for the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill was agreed at yesterdays full meeting of the Council.
After years of neglect by the Councils Tory administration, an extra £300,000 was allocated to fund badly needed maintenance.
It was leaked during the debate that the heating engineers that turned off the system for the summer, said that it could not be turned back on in the winter without extensive repairs.
Before the vote where all Liberal Democrats voted for the expenditure, Cllr. Graham Norman (Meadvale & St. Johns Ward) gave a passionate speech in favour of the budget allocation.
All the Residents Association councillors, the Redhill Green Party councillor and some Conservative councillors tried to block the motion, but were fortunately defeated.
