Local Lib Dems Back Recycling Campaign

Local Liberal Democrats are pushing the Council hard to recycle plastic from home.

Jane Kulka, Vice Chairman of Reigate Liberal Democrats said "Early last year, Reigate Liberal Democrats canvassed the opinions of Borough residents in a FOCUS newsletter, to gauge their views on the recycling of plastic from home. The results were overwhelmingly in favour.

Following this very positive response, and with pressure from Liberal Democrat Councillors, the Conservative Council ran a Plastic Recycling Trial at the end of 2002, in the North of the Borough.

The post trial survey carried out by Council Officers showed that over 90% of the residents that took part said that they wanted the plastic recycling collection from home to be permanent. Most people who are keen to recycle plastic have to take it miles to a site, which is extremely inefficient.

Your local Liberal Democrats are regularly asked "when will recyclable plastics be collected from my home?"
