Conservatives have no plans to fund school holiday activities.

12.20.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Sat 22nd May 2004

At the Full Council meeting on 22nd April, Lib Dem Councillor Liz Pinn asked the Tory Executive Member Cllr. Rob Ellingham if the Council were funding any Holiday Activities or Play Schemes for disadvantaged children. When she didn't receive an answer to her question she asked for a written response.

One month later at the next Full Council meeting on 20th May she still had no answer, so she asked again.

The response was not easily extracted, but was basically NO! Apparently, that is the responsibility of Conservative controlled Surrey County Council.

This Tory Council appears to be very keen to punish the youth when they do something wrong with ASBO's (AntiSocial Behaviour Orders), but don't seem very keen to provide anything to keep them out of mischief in the first place.
