Results Of The Selected PollQuestion:Should Reigate & Banstead Borough Council collect more recycleable waste like glass and plastic bottles from your door, along with paper, card and cans? Our Opinion:Conservative controlled Reigate and Banstead Borough Council are not meeting Government set targets. When the Reigate Liberal Democrats started door step collection of recycleables in the mid nineties, the Tories threatened to cancel the whole service when they regained control of the Council. Instead of that, they just allowed our service to continue unchanged. The two issues are both to do with land fill sites. Plastic bottles are mostly empty space and fill up the sites very quickly and for every ton of waste (including glass) we dump, we get charged by government. The quicker that the land fill sites are used up, the more likely we are to have an incinerator forced upon us. Conservative controlled Surrey County Council still have plans for incinerators as a solution. Your Opinion:88%
