In this years General election the residents of Preston Ward will be voting for the MP for the Reigate constituency for the first time. In 2007 the Boundary commission moved the Preston Ward in to the Constituency to balance up the resident numbers in the constituencies in Surrey. Jane Kulka the Parliamentary Candidate for the Lib Dems said, "It's great to have Preston in this Constituency now, this is the place I was born and went to school. I know it well and appreciate the problems that are experienced there. Preston has been recognised as an area of particular disadvantage within Surrey."
